Actor Derek Martin has died, reports The Guardian. Martin was 92 years old when he died.
Martin died on Saturday January 10th. The cause of death has not been made public.
The sad news was confirmed to the Guardian by Martin’s family, who are asking for privacy during this difficult time.
– Derek wasn’t just a father to us. He was a friend and supported us through our ups and downs. He never stopped learning, he loved meeting people and was always generous with his time. We miss him very much, the family states in their statement.
Martin is best remembered EastEnders– series as Charlie Slater. Martin played a father and a taxi driver in the BBC soap from 2000 to 2011 and made occasional guest appearances in the series until 2016.
– Charlie would have done anything for his family, and just like his character, Derek would do the same for his close circle. All in EastEnders Derek was deeply loved by those who worked with him and will always be fondly remembered. Our love and thoughts are with his family and friends, of EastEnders the spokesperson says.
