Surprise in the starting line-up
Despite Kimmich’s failure: Bayern star Goretzka on the bench

Joshua Kimmich will be missing from FC Bayern on Sunday against Wolfsburg. In advance it was firmly expected that Leon Goretzka would replace him. But that’s not the case.
A small surprise in Bayern’s starting line-up in the game against VfL Wolfsburg: national player Leon Goretzka is only on the bench, although Joshua Kimmich is out. Vice-captain Kimmich is suffering from ankle problems, so he’s watching. The place next to Aleksandar Pavlović was not taken by Goretzka, but by Tom Bischof, who was most recently positioned as a left-back. It was fully expected that the 30-year-old would start.
Goretzka’s situation at FC Bayern is currently being monitored particularly closely because the central midfielder’s contract expires in the summer. The national player is often only number three on the six behind Kimmich and Pavlović, who are usually preferred in the Champions League.
The complete Bayern starting eleven: Neuer – Stanišić, Tah, Upamecano, Laimer – Bischof, Pavlović – Díaz, Karl, Olise – Kane
