Saario has been on a solo rowing trip from Cape Horn to Cape Town.
The rescue operation has been watched with excitement in Finland. On Saturday evening, it was reported that the journey of the ship rescuing Saariota had slowed down.
Earlier on Saturday, the support team described that Saario’s “situation is challenging, but the idea works”.

Tapio Lehtinen, who has sailed alone around the world twice, told Iltalehte that he had talked with Saario before his sailing.
