Miro Karppanen did not give himself any mercy.
Miro Karpanen was a disappointed man after the 10 km intermediate start race of the SC skiing.
The 27-year-old skiing professional was only 25. The winner Markus Vuorela covered the distance 53 seconds faster.
– It went badly. The skier is too bad. He hasn’t had a kick the whole season, Karppanen said.
The boar of Imatra’s athletes won the SM gold and the overall Finnish Cup competition last season.
However, there has been no international breakthrough, and skiing outside the A national team is an expensive endeavor. In November, Karppanen told Yle that the current season will largely determine whether he will continue his career.
What are your thoughts on career progression right now?
– There is more through the front than behind.
So you’re not packing your skis yet?
– Not yet, but this is not going to give a shit at the moment. Let’s see if it starts going better somewhere.
From hand to mouth
Miro Karppanen’s momentum from last season has disappeared. Pasi Liesimaa
Karpanen lives the life of a professional athlete with support. Sponsor collaborations and prize money help him. The head stays just above the surface.
– I train as a professional, but I go at the pace of an amateur, the man sums up.
– We go from hand to mouth, but I can do sports one hundred percent.
Karpanen hopes that his fitness will improve by tightening the competition pace. He will ski a sprint in Kuopio on Sunday and then head to Central Europe for endurance trips. After that, it’s the Finnish cup in Tampere.
The Imatra man’s good friend and teammate Remi Lindholm has also been in a weak mood in the early season.
Have you done something wrong together?
– Remi had injuries in the summer. We both have our own problems, even though we have trained together a bit.
