FC Bayern Munich is forced to act after a pyrotechnic penalty. This will affect thousands of fans in the next Champions League home game.
FC Bayern is taking action: After UEFA’s sanction for pyrotechnics in the game against Sporting Lisbon, the entire south curve in the lower tier will remain closed in the next Champions League home game on January 21st against Royale Union Saint-Gilloise – and therefore more blocks than required by UEFA.
“All tickets for the lower tier of the fan curve in question would lose their validity and do not entitle them to enter the Allianz Arena against Saint-Gilloise. The tickets will be canceled on Friday,” the club announced.
The background is a decision by the UEFA Disciplinary Committee, which fined FC Bayern 50,000 euros after the game against Sporting Lisbon (3-1) on December 9th and imposed the closure of blocks 111 to 114 in the lower tier of the south curve. The club was initially spared a complete closure of the stands.
“Since there is no block allocation of tickets for FC Bayern’s home games in the lower tier of the south curve and all 9,336 tickets for blocks 109 to 117 are valid, it is technically not possible for the club to specifically cancel only the 4,800 tickets for blocks 111 to 114,” it continued. The club is therefore canceling all tickets for this area as a first step. The entrance fee will be refunded to the buyers.
