Fenerbahçe re-signed Mert Günok, who was trained in its infrastructure and wore the yellow-dark blue jersey for many years. In the statement made by the club, it was stated that the national goalkeeper signed a contract binding him to Fenerbahçe for 2.5 years.
Ertan Torunoğulları, Member of the Board of Directors Responsible from Football Branch, Football A.Ş. attended the signing ceremony held at the club building. Board Members Ömer Topbaş and Turgay Terzi and Sports Director Devin Özek attended.

Speaking after the signings, Ertan Torunoğulları said, “Mert is a child of our community. He came to Fenerbahçe at the age of 10 and served for 15 years. We were all very happy that he returned home after a short separation. He is a goalkeeper that our coach wants very much. He is a character who will be an older brother in Samandıra. Hopefully, we will be champions in May and Mert’s contribution will be great.” Torunoğulları also emphasized that the transfer period is continuing and reinforcements to the squad will continue.
Sports Director Devin Özek said, “Welcome to our Mert family. We are very happy. Hopefully, we will have successful years.”

Stating that wearing the yellow-dark blue jersey again has a special meaning for him, Mert Günok said, “I am very emotional to be back here. I had emotional moments from the first moment.”
Explaining his choice of jersey number, the experienced goalkeeper said, “I have had many successes with the number 34. I wanted to wear 34 again. I believe that this number will bring good luck and that we will become champions at the end of the season.”
Sending a message to the fans, Günok concluded his speech by saying, “They always made me feel that they loved me very much. I grew up in Kadıköy; even when I was away from Fenerbahçe, this bond was never broken. I am very happy to experience this feeling again.”
