Hoffenheim can’t get going
In front of 15,014 spectators in Sinsheim, Bochum set the tone in the first few minutes. TSG loanee Konstantinos Stafylidis had the first chance of the game (3rd). Shortly thereafter, Danilo Soares just missed from a distance (11th).
The hosts, who had to do without captain Benjamin Hübner, Stefan Posch, Ermin Bicakcic and Robert Skov, couldn’t get going. The otherwise so dangerous game over the flanks and space did not take place at first. TSG star Andrej Kramaric only had the first opportunity in the 20th minute.
Bochum, who were missing Armel Bella Kotchap, Jürgen Locadia and Simon Zoller, largely kept the hosts in check afterwards. Space provided only a touch of danger (26th).
Bochum with more great chances
Asano did a much better job with his striking goal from the edge of the penalty area on the other side. Sebastian Polter could have even increased his header after a corner (38th). Milos Pantovic had an even bigger chance, who had to play across Asano in the 45th minute or score – but did neither.
At the beginning of the second round, Hoffenheim, who had been disappointing in the first round, increased the number of strokes. Kramaric initially missed twice (49th and 51st) before Raum scored.
However, the guests were only briefly impressed. Asano used a dropout by Austrian national player Florian Grillitsch to score his second goal. A third goal by Asano (86th) was not recognized due to a previous foul. Shortly before the end there were concerns about Bochum’s Cristian Gamboa, who was injured in a collision with Riemann.
Bochum now against Leverkusen, Hoffenheim has to go to Leipzig
Both clubs do not have to play until Sunday (April 10th, 2022) on the coming matchday. Bochum welcomes Bayer Leverkusen, Hoffenheim plays for RB Leipzig.
