Windows destroyed, belongings moved and a safe with expensive watches has disappeared. For example, residents will find their house in the Koolwijkpark district on October 20 when they return from holiday. The police shared images in Bureau Brabant on Monday.
“My wife immediately goes inside, walks upstairs and I immediately hear a scream,” says the resident of the house in Omroep Brabant’s investigative program.
When she saw that the window had been smashed and the safe had been torn from the wall, she knew enough: there had been a burglary. “You are surprised, because you don’t believe it. You are frustrated and my wife has a very clear feeling of insecurity,” the resident describes.
Preliminary exploration?
CCTV footage shows a burglar climbing over the gate and trying to reach the top floor through the wall. The man turns one security camera to the other, so that he is then out of view. It could simply have been a preliminary exploration. It is not clear whether loot was also taken that same evening.
What is certain is that valuable items have been stolen. This concerns watches from brands such as Rolex, Cartier and IWC. Jewelry and keys are also gone. “Over the years I have purchased a number of expensive watches. When we were married for sixty years, I bought a Cartier Tank for my wife,” says the man who says that the watches and other valuables were in the stolen safe.
Police are looking for perpetrator and watches
The police are looking for the burglar, but would also like to know where the stolen watches have gone. There is a good chance that they are for sale somewhere.
CCTV footage shows a scooter driving past the house around a quarter to nine in the evening on Sunday, October 20. The police also want the scooter rider to come forward, because he or she may know more.
