His signing caused a stir. But now Spencer Dinwiddie’s time at FC Bayern is over again. The player himself finds emotional words.

Bitter news for the German champions: The basketball players from Bayern Munich have terminated the contract with their star signing Spencer Dinwiddie after just over two months. As the club announced on Sunday evening, this mutual decision was made for personal reasons. The 32-year-old Dinwiddie traveled to the USA shortly before Christmas due to a serious illness in his family and with the consent of the sporting director.

“I would like to thank the organization, the team and the fans. Despite the recent phase of the season, which was not easy, I felt very comfortable in Munich,” the 32-year-old was quoted as saying: “Unfortunately, I am not able to play at the moment.” Bayern sports director Dragan Tarlac hopes “that everything will work out well for Spencer and his family in 2026.”

Dinwiddie only joined FC Bayern at the end of October after spending eleven years chasing baskets in the NBA (most recently the Charlotte Hornets).
