Michael Gregoritsch will not be joining FC Basel and will instead stay with Bröndby IF for the time being. The striker, who moved to Denmark in the summer, is said to have been in advanced discussions with the Swiss champions, but has now rejected the move to the Super League. This is reported by “Sky”.
Update 6:36 p.m.: Instead, Gregoritsch is on the verge of returning to the Bundesliga. According to “Sky”, there are advanced negotiations with a club from Germany. It is unclear which club this is. Among others, former club Hamburger SV, FC St. Pauli and Werder Bremen are looking for a new center forward.

Gregoritsch left SC Freiburg in the summer after three years and signed a contract with Bröndby until 2028. But the 31-year-old, who helped Austria win the World Cup in November, didn’t seem happy. In 14 appearances he scored three times and prepared one goal – not enough to bring his employer a successful season. Qualification for the Conference League was missed in August; in the league, the gap to leaders Aarhus GF is nine points.
That’s why there were signs of a change recently; due to the long contract term, it was primarily about a loan. FC Basel, who are also going through a difficult time in terms of sport and are only in fourth place in the Super League, are now out of the race.
