This year, the Pure Bruges Radio program can again be heard every first Sunday of the month at Villa Bota and is presented by Kelvin Bossut and Alderman Blontrock. The grant of 500 euros was awarded to cover the costs of the program. According to Reuse, this is problematic because Blontrock combines two roles in this file. “He wears two hats here: that of a policy maker and that of a radio maker. The law is very clear about this: anyone who can personally benefit from a file is not allowed to participate in the deliberation or decision.” However, the minutes of the council show that Alderman Blontrock was present at the meeting at which the subsidy was awarded and therefore participated in the decision-making process.

In addition, Groen Brugge points out a striking element in the subsidy file. The application was formally only submitted by co-presenter Kelvin Bossut. In the actual file, Blontrock’s name is not mentioned anywhere, with the exception of the appendices. “That raises questions about the transparency and correctness of the procedure,” says Reuse.
