For a long time, Manchester City looked like the winner of the clash. But then comes the “Extra Time”.

After parting ways with team manager Enzo Maresca, Chelsea FC secured a point late in the top game at Manchester City. At 1:1 (0:1), interim coach Calum McFarlane celebrated the equalizer by Enzo Fernández (90th + 4) and showed a lot of morale.

ManCity had been in the lead for a long time thanks to Tijjani Reijnders (42nd), but didn’t manage to win. The gap to leaders Arsenal FC grew to six points; the Gunners had beaten AFC Bournemouth 3-2 the day before. For team manager Pep Guardiola’s team, however, it was another setback: ManCity had already made a 0-0 draw at AFC Sunderland at the start of the year.

Chelsea parted ways with Maresca on New Year’s Day. According to media reports, the Italian’s alleged conversations with Manchester were among the reasons for the separation. There had previously been speculation that Maresca could inherit Guardiola in the summer.
