KLM has to cancel the flights due to the expected snow and hail. Due to the winter weather, there are fewer runways available and de-icing aircraft takes a lot of time.

“By canceling flights now, we give our passengers clarity in time and prevent flights from being canceled at the last minute,” the company said on Sunday afternoon.

KLM indicated that it would do its utmost to rebook passengers on the next flight with available seats.

All in all, more than four hundred flights at Schiphol are canceled today due to the bad weather. That is about a third of all flights scheduled for today.

KLM has also canceled many flights in recent days. Yesterday, 73 flights were cancelled, and 144 flights were canceled the day before. Flights that did depart were often delayed by hours.
