The 74th Four Hills Tournament ended early for the Norwegian ski jumper Marius Lindvik.

Lindvik finished 51st on Saturday and missed qualifying for the competition in Innsbruck, Austria. The 27-year-old will not travel to the final in Bischofshofen with the Norwegian national team.

“We will make a change in Bischofshofen. Benjamin Østvlod is flying in tomorrow evening. Marius Lindvik is traveling home to train with Andreas Vilberg in Lillehammer,” confirmed Norway’s sports director Jan-Erik Aalbu to the newspaper “Dagbladet”.

Lindvik had previously missed top placings at the 74th Four Hills Tournament in Oberstdorf (23rd place) and at the New Year’s competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen (22nd).

The 2022 Olympic champion should gain new self-confidence in training with assistant coach Vilberg. After the Four Hills Tournament, the World Cup continues from January 10th in Zakopane, Poland.

Lindvik (167 points) is currently in 20th place in the overall World Cup and is therefore the third best Norwegian after Kristoffer Eriksen Sundal (13th place/246 points) and Johann Andre Forfang (19th/172).

Disappointing Four Hills Tournament for Norway

“It’s so bad that I’m embarrassed. I have no idea why this is happening. It’s just annoying,” said Lindvik on “Dagbladet” about his 51st place in the qualification in Innsbruck.

Meanwhile, replacement Østvlod was happy about his chance at the Four Hills Tournament. “Bischofshofen is a ski jump that I have very fond memories of. I feel like I had some great weeks of training that paid off,” said the 24-year-old.

Things aren’t really going well for the Norwegian ski jumpers at the 74th Four Hills Tournament. The best athlete at halftime is Sundal, twelfth overall.
