Irene Paredes and her partner Lucía Ybarra already have a son together. Now the family continues to grow.
Spanish soccer world champion Irene Paredes is becoming a mother for the second time. The 34-year-old shared two photos on Instagram in which she can be seen with her partner, hockey player Lucía Ybarra. It is clearly visible: Ybarra is heavily pregnant. Paredes wrote about the pictures: “Here’s to another year that will definitely bring a lot of fun again.”
It is not the first child the couple is expecting. Son Mateo was born in September 2021. He is also photographed in both photos, kissing Ybarra’s stomach in them. The family dog can also be seen in the pictures.
Paredes has been playing for FC Barcelona since 2021. The defender has been playing for the Spanish national team since 2011. In the past, she has repeatedly led her team onto the field as captain, such as in the lost European Championship final against England last year.
Despite the defeat in the final, Paredes can already look back on great success in the jersey of her home country. In 2023 she won the World Cup with Spain, and in 2024 she triumphed with the selection in the Nations League.
