In September 2023, Sam Kerr and Kristie Mewis got engaged. Now the two soccer players said yes to each other shortly before the turn of the year.
Wedding on New Year’s Eve: Football star Sam Kerr married her partner Kristie Mewis on the last day of 2025. The couple celebrated at Villa Dionysus, a property in Swan Valley, not far from the Australian city of Perth. “We chose this location because it is beautiful and private and we could design it exactly how we wanted,” the two athletes told Vogue Australia.
Kerr wore a black Hugo Boss tuxedo to the bash. Kristie chose two different dresses. One of them was an off-the-shoulder, beaded, semi-sheer dress from Berta, the second was a flowy, strapless dress from Kyha Studios.
The couple already shared photos from the celebration via Instagram. The first picture shows a kiss between the captain and record goalscorer of the Australian national team and the US international. In the second photo, Kerr is carrying the celebrating Mewis on her shoulders. The joint contribution is marked with the word “Wifey” (German: “Ehefrau”).
The couple was extremely happy with their wedding. “We didn’t expect it to look so perfect and beautiful,” Kristie said. “It was exactly how we imagined it would be and more. When we saw each other at the altar for the first time, it was the most beautiful moment.”
Kerr, who is under contract with Chelsea FC in London, and West Ham player Mewis, who once played for FC Bayern, met over the Internet a few years ago. “We knew each other from the football world and started chatting on social media,” the couple said. The first meeting took place in 2020. Three years later, Kerr proposed to Mewis in Newport, Rhode Island. In May 2025, Mewis gave birth to their son Jagger Mewis-Kerr.
