In the search for the missing Mick from Helmond, a deceased person was found in the water of the canal near the Rochadeweg in Helmond on Saturday afternoon around half past three. The police strongly believe that it concerns 19-year-old Mick. She will investigate this further. The police also say that ‘there is currently no reason to assume that a crime has been committed.’
Mick has an intellectual disability and disappeared from his home on the night of Thursday to Friday. Police and family were immediately very concerned. CCTV footage taken shortly after his disappearance in the immediate vicinity of his home shows that he is wearing little clothing.
From the moment he was reported missing, an intensive search for him took place. The actions received a lot of support during the day on Friday. This Saturday, no fewer than seven hundred people helped in the search for the young man. There was a long queue at a registration point in Helmond in the morning.
They responded to a citizens’ initiative. The police, the Mobile Unit (ME), the Netherlands Rescue Dogs Foundation (SIN) and veterans of the Veterans Search Team Foundation have also helped in the search for the boy in recent days.
“It was heartwarming what people and institutions have done in recent days with the aim of finding Mick alive.” This is how Teun Hakvoort reacts to the news that the young man has almost certainly been found. Hakvoort is the chairman of the Missing Coordination Platform.
