The Emmen 2025 Cultural Prize has gone to the Grote Kerk Cultural Foundation. This makes the foundation the successor to Harmonie Euterpe.

The Grote Kerk Cultural Foundation has been a fixture in the cultural life of Emmen for over 25 years. According to the jury, she knows how to surprise and connect visitors again and again. The church offers organ concerts, classical music and special exhibitions. The foundation is praised for the platform it offers to young musicians and artists from the North.

“The Grote Kerk Cultural Foundation gives the Grote Kerk a cultural heart and knows how to attract visitors,” says jury member Alex Niemeijer, praising the winning foundation. “The hospitable reception certainly contributes to this. With this award, the jury expresses its appreciation for the lasting contribution of the Grote Kerk Cultureel Foundation to the cultural climate of Emmen.”

In addition to Grote Kerk Culturalel, Muziektheater UIT REmmen, Bloes en Rock and the Van Gogh Huis Drenthe were nominated for the culture prize.

The title Emmenaar of the Year went to André Blaauwgeers. He is one of the co-founders of the Griendtsveen Park in Erica and was chairman and volunteer at the park for many years. Because of his years of dedication, the square in front of the pavilion is named after him.

Last year the title Emmenaar of the Year went to singer Hannah Mae.
