Crystal Palace have signed Brennan Johnson from Tottenham Hotspur. The English first division club, which is coached by former Frankfurt and Wolfsburg coach Oliver Glasner, secured the 24-year-old’s services for 40 million euros. Palace have never paid so much for a player.
The 42-time Wales international replaces the Belgian Christian Benteke, for whom the Eagles paid Liverpool FC 31 million euros in 2016. The 35-year-old is now under contract with Al Wahda.
Glasner reacted impressed to the change: “The club deserves respect for making this possible so quickly,” said the 51-year-old. “Brennan will give us more options in attack with his speed and goalscoring abilities and will be a valuable addition to the team in view of the upcoming games.”
1. FSV Mainz 05 has signed for FC Augsburg. Striker Philipp Tietz is moving to the bottom of the table with immediate effect and is signing a contract until 2028. According to media reports, the transfer fee is said to be around four million euros.
The 28-year-old Tietz moved from Darmstadt 98 to FCA in July 2023. Tietz played 85 competitive games for Augsburg, in which he scored 17 goals. He was already there at the start of training at FSV on Friday.
