What is his secret now? Why does Eemnes wave him goodbye with so much love? At first the Amersfoorter says he doesn’t really have an answer to that. “I am sociable, friendly and reliable. I can get along with everyone here,” is his response, after he has thought carefully.
He has developed a special bond with the residents of Eemnes. He announced this in a personal letter, which he placed in the mailboxes of many people. “The people here have become like family to me. I mean that seriously. I like them all. They are so sweet. They have a special place in my heart.”
Vibrant package
Along the way, Johan throws around first names that belong to certain addresses. At some homes he says he could go there for a cup of coffee and at another he got roti. And what is actually the strangest thing he has ever delivered? Before he answers, his eyes light up. “Vibrators,” he says. “I had a package next door that kept shaking,” he reports, laughing.
He says he doesn’t yet realize that it is his last day as a parcel deliverer, even though almost everyone reminds him of it this Wednesday. He cannot dwell on this farewell for long. He starts with his new boss on Friday. Johan starts working at a fire and water damage company.
