Piotr Żyła has disappointed so far at the Four Hills Tournament. Now that has consequences. Żyła will be replaced in the Polish team.
A former tournament winner returns: Dawid Kubacki can compete for the Polish ski jumping team in the second half of the current Four Hills Tournament.
He replaces Piotr Żyła, who has disappointed in previous competitions and failed to qualify for the New Year’s competition in Garmisch-Partenkirchen.
Kubacki, winner in 2019/20, fell short of his potential this season. His best result so far is 20th place. But competitor Żyła is currently not in much better shape, took 36th place in Oberstdorf and failed to qualify in Garmisch-Partenkirchen in 53rd place.
The competition in Innsbruck should bring about a turning point for the Polish team. The qualification at Bergisel is scheduled for Saturday. In the past, Kubacki had finished second in Innsbruck and won the final in Bischofshofen, which fuels hopes of a repeat of these successes.
