The KNMI warns that it can be especially slippery on bridges, roads, cycle paths and footpaths. The risk of accidents is greatest between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. this New Year’s Eve.
There was an accident at Kapelleweg in Spierdijk around 4.30 am. Slippery conditions may have played a role there. A car ended up upside down in the ditch and the fire brigade freed the driver.
The roads in that region, West Friesland, were very slippery around that time, according to a photographer who responded to the report.
Keep your distance in the car
Motorists are also asked to take possible dangers into account later this morning.
Drive slower and keep a greater distance from other road users, according to the KNMI.
