Hélène Hendriks made a pretty spicy joke in her talk show De Oranjewinter about Henny Huisman, who is known to have quite a sense of honor. “No, nonsense! Nonsense!”
It characterizes the second half of Henny Huisman’s life: his decades-long search for recognition. After years and years of successfully presenting De Soundmixshow on RTL 4, he was mercilessly pushed aside in 2002 for the hipper Idols. And after that the presenter never had great success again.
Difficult to digest
Henny has now been trying to return to television for almost a quarter of a century and that says something about how sorry he is about how his TV career ended. The presenter finds jokes about this difficult to digest, but Hélène Hendriks still makes one, in her much-watched talk show The Orange Winter.
Hélène’s dinner is about the well-known media brother Wytse and Jelte van der Goot. One is a football commentator, the other a laughing sidekick on Radio 538. “They also have a famous father, of course. That is Leo van der Goot,” table guest Victor Vlam then notes.
‘Henny fired!’
As a seasoned TV woman, Hélène naturally knows who Leo van der Goot is. “Yes, that is a very big television gentleman.”
Victor: “That’s the man who fired Henny Huisman.”
Hélène then falsely says: “Yes. Rightly so.”
She then quickly makes it clear that it is a joke: “Hahahaha. No, nonsense, nonsense! Henny Huisman, another great man! Hey, just to make up for it.”
Good intentions
Henny undoubtedly hopes that the media will be slightly more favorable to him in 2026. Does he have any good intentions of his own? “I always have good intentions,” he says Story. “Every day of the month.”
“Look, I smoke and I don’t drink. And being overweight has been with me for years. I’ve tried everything before. So no, just trying to stay healthy, that’s important.”
