The goaltending department of the Carolina Hurricanes got a hard hit on Monday when the team’s Russian defenseman Pyotr Kotshetkov26, was said to have surgery due to a lower body injury.

Hurricanes head coach Rod Brind’Amour said that the injury has bothered Kotshetkov all season. With the surgery, he will probably be sidelined for the rest of the season.

Kotshetkov has been expected to be the club’s future number one goalkeeper, but due to injuries, he has suddenly been given responsibility of waivers caught in the fall Brandon Buswho has played 15 games with a save percentage of 91.1.

Also experienced Frederik Andersen has received the same amount of responsibility, but his 86.9 percent save percentage is not convincing.
