Striker Younes Ebnoutalib is the high-flyer of this second division season. Now the 22-year-old is moving to Frankfurt – and will probably be Elversberg’s record departure.

Eintracht Frankfurt has signed Younes Ebnoutalib from SV Elversberg. The 22-year-old has a contract until 2031, as the Bundesliga club announced. However, both clubs did not provide any information about the transfer fee. There was recent speculation about a sum of around eight million euros plus bonus payments. The striker would be the record departure in the club’s history of the SVE.

The striker has had a remarkable rise: just over a year ago he was playing in the regional league for FC Gießen before moving to Elversberg last winter for just 50,000 euros. With twelve goals, he leads the top scorers list in the 2nd Bundesliga and contributes significantly to SVE being in second place in the table after the first half of the season behind leaders FC Schalke 04.

Eintracht’s sports director Markus Krösche said of the Frankfurt native: “Younes is a very dangerous player with a very good physique. In the last few months he was able to take the next steps in his development in Elversberg, which we would like to continue to advance together.” Ebnoutalib has “all the athletic requirements” and will “quickly help” Eintracht.

The German-Moroccan is supposed to solve the striker problem for the Champions League participants. National player Jonathan Burkardt and veteran Michy Batshuayi are currently missing due to injury. The Frenchman Elye Wahi, who moved to Frankfurt at the beginning of 2025, has so far proven to be a transfer flop and is considered a sales candidate for the Hessians.

For Elversberg, the transfer means a bitter loss in the promotion race. Sports director Ole Book explained: “We recognized early on that there was a lot of potential in Younes. He took advantage of the past year, worked meticulously on himself and proved himself at a high level.” Ebnoutalib, who still had a contract in Elversberg until 2028, deserved the step into the Bundesliga.
