Natacha Harlequin was a regular face in Shownieuws for years, until she suddenly started doing a public mating dance with Ali B. Now we don’t see her anywhere anymore. How does that happen? “Two sides.”
The racism special of Today Inside gave Natacha Harlequin a long-lasting TV career. Her own show Dit Vindt Nederland flopped, but she did have a lucrative job as an expert in Shownieuws. When Ali B more or less bought access to that program by hiring Natacha as a ‘media lawyer’, the story was over.
Very frustrating
Natacha did not survive that faux-pas: she was sent away and is now nowhere to be seen. And that was quite painful for her. “I’m not naive. So I can handle the fact that my time in the media came to an end. It’s mainly about the way. I didn’t get the chance to explain or repair it in time.”
She continues Veronica Superguide: “There was talk about me, but not with me. And I don’t handle injustice well. (…) If you can’t defend yourself, it gnaws at you. That can be very frustrating. And that was the case for me for a while. I have now put that behind me.”
No hassle
Why is Natacha still nowhere to be seen? Was that her choice or Hilversum’s? “Both, I am very honest about that. Sometimes I was not available, it did not work out. Some called me and then they said: ‘a season later’. They did not want to rehabilitate ‘the hassle’ of Shownieuws, as they called it.”
She continues: “Or there were conditions. First an interview, exclusively with us. Or in that one newspaper, and then you have to say this or that. I’m not going to do that.”

By the way, she says she doesn’t miss television. According to Natacha, she is more substantive than the medium of TV. “I don’t do well with riots and disturbances. But that is apparently the new revenue model. It is now mainly about, for example, Victor Vlam’s opinion about Tina Nijkamp and vice versa.”
She concludes: “As an expert, I would like to join a TV, radio or online program somewhere where there is room for the content. Then I can just be myself: nuanced.”
