Laura Gimmler’s failure was announced on Friday. Now another DSV runner has also been hit.

Setback for German cross-country skiers: Verena Veit from Oberstdorf will not be able to take part in the first stage of the 20th Tour de Ski. The 23-year-old has to leave due to illness.

This means that the German women’s team has been reduced to seven runners, after Laura Gimmler also had to declare her withdrawal on Friday. Her fitness level has not yet been fully restored, which is why she was withdrawn as a precautionary measure in view of the upcoming Winter Olympics.

The Tour de Ski starts on December 28, 2025 and ends on January 4, 2026. The first stage is a freestyle sprint.
