Friezin Marijke Groenewoud from Team AH Zaanlander was the fastest with 3.54.73. Beune came second with a time of 3.56.80.
Beune and Groenewoud were evenly matched in the final stage. With two laps to go, Groenewoud took the lead and beat the world champion by two seconds.
Bente Kerkhoff achieved a personal record of 3.58.83 in the stage against the fast start Evelien Vijn, but finished fourth.
Not sure about Olympics
Conijn also got off to a quick start against Sanne in ‘t Hof, but he came up short with faster laps. With Conijn’s second acceleration, In ‘t Hof had to pass. He finished fifth in 4:02.31.
Groenewoud is certain of participating in the Olympic Games. The skaters who finished second and third must wait for other results from the OKT before they can be assured of qualification.
