Lili Genee, the wife of Wilfred Genee, thinks it is very lame that Beau van Erven Dorens portrayed her in his talk show as some kind of first-class cat. “That sauna comment was very lame.”

The women of Today Inside stars René van der Gijp and Wilfred Genee are not exactly sitting still. Gijp’s is traveling all the time with all kinds of women’s groups in Marrakech, and Wilfred’s has now published a booklet. Something about ‘listening to your body and balance’. She was allowed to promote it last month in the ratings flop RTL Tonight.

‘Very sweet’

Lili was not very happy about that interview by Beau van Erven Dorens. She felt that the presenter did not really give her space and had her husband Wilfred complain about it the next evening in VI. It must be a kind of revenge because he doesn’t like him, says Wilfred. “But then he better tackle me!”

Johan Derksen also went all out on Beau and later Lili said that she really liked that. “It was very sweet that they stood up for me. VI also does good things sometimes.”

Sorry?

If the Weekend now asks her whether she has received an apology from Beau, Lili backs down. Apparently she finds it a bit uncomfortable; After all, he did give her book a platform. “I think the outside world made it very big, but I didn’t experience it that way. After the broadcast we had a nice conversation.”

She continues: “It just became a bit chaotic because of the many guests at the table. I certainly don’t have the feeling that Beau deliberately did not let me finish or wanted to make me look strange, but that is now being suggested.”

Suggestive

Lili thinks that’s bad. “I think that’s bad for him. I find all those suggestive headlines very unhealthy, we also make that clear in the book, because it pits people against each other. Wilfred and I see that happening a lot and I think it motivates us to keep each other healthy and not to participate in that.”

Ehh, Wilfred does not participate in suggestive reporting? VI is the most suggestive program on Dutch television, what is this about? “Wilfred believes that that’s just how it works in that world: it’s about the clicks and the revenue models.”

Kind of lame

Didn’t Wilfred himself say that Beau was apparently seeking revenge? And Lili thanked him for that in private, right? And now the blame is suddenly shifted to ‘suggestive’ media. Not really strong. “We are now filling it all in for Beau. A bit of an exaggeration, because he didn’t have to invite me.”

So now she suddenly thinks that Beau gave her a top interview? Ah, no, not. “I understand Johan, because Beau did indeed interrupt me. And I thought it was silly of Beau to say: ‘We don’t all have a sauna at home!’ You can also go to a sauna to meditate, which is good for the brain. That was what I wanted to convey.”

Luxury cat

Lili thinks it’s cheap that Beau portrayed her as a luxury cat who can afford to spend all day ‘listening to your body and balance’.

She emphasizes: “It’s not that I live in a health center or that we have all kinds of underground gyms, we are very normal. But I am very happy with Johan, I love him. He has really put the book on the map, from an unexpected angle.”
