The Turkish top club Besiktas JK is planning to be without goalkeeper Mert Günok and midfielder Necip Uysal in the future. The 36-year-old and the 34-year-old have been told that they should look for new clubs in the winter transfer window, the fifth-placed Süper Lig team said on Friday. Both are contractually bound until 2027.
Günok moved from Basaksehir to Besiktas in 2021 and has since stood between the posts for the Black Eagles 130 times (38 times to zero), won the cup once and the Turkish Super Cup twice. At the start of the season, the 37-time and current Turkish national player still had a regular place, but lost it to Ersin Destanoğlu (24) in mid-October. Uysa comes from his own youth and has been under contract with BJK as a professional since 2009. With 466 appearances, the defensive midfielder is the second most used player in the club’s history after Mehmet Özdilek (491, one of Besiktas’ record players). With the club he won three championships, three cups and two Supercups. This season, when fit, he mostly sat on the bench.
