The Dow Jones Industrial recently gained 0.02 percent to 48,738.86 points. The market-wide S&P 500 rose by 0.09 percent to 6,938.46 points. It had previously reached a record high of almost 6,946 points. The NASDAQ 100, which is dominated by technology stocks, recently rose by 0.10 percent to 25,681.79 points.
Commodity stocks were among the bigger winners against the background of the ongoing record hunt for gold, silver and copper. Freeport McMoran (Freeport-McMoRan) gained 2.50 percent and Southern Copper gained 2 percent.
Nvidia (NVIDIA) rose by 1.5 percent as one of the best stocks on the Nasdaq 100. The chip expert has received a non-exclusive product license from the AI startup Groq and is taking on some of the employees. Groq will continue to be an independent company, it said on its website.
