Head of Scouting & Transfers

According to “Kicker” information, second division club FC Schalke 04 has agreed to work with Maximilian Lüftl. Accordingly, the 31-year-old will be head of scouting and transfers at the Royal Blues.

Lüftl succeeds Ben Manga, from whom Schalke separated prematurely around three months ago despite a contract that runs until 2028. Manga had been director of squad planning, scouting and miners’ forge. Lüftl would therefore not receive a directorship.

Lüftl comes from league rivals Hannover 96, where his contract as chief scout expires after this season. It is still unclear when exactly he will start in Gelsenkirchen. But it could be quicker, because it was only on Wednesday that the Lower Saxony team had signed Jörg Schmadtke as the successor to managing director Marcus Mann, who had moved to RB Salzburg.
