The World Cup is scheduled to take place in the USA, Canada and Mexico in around six months. Jürgen Klinsmann has a lot of confidence in the DFB team.
Former national coach Jürgen Klinsmann sees the German national team as one of the title contenders for the 2026 World Cup. “Everything is possible,” Klinsmann expressed his confidence on Sky Sports News. “Germany is joining the pool of favorites with the other major European nations.” In addition to the DFB team, he also named Argentina and Brazil as contenders for the title in the USA, Canada and Mexico. “But anything is possible,” said the 61-year-old.
Klinsmann sees increasing the tournament to 48 teams as a major challenge. “It will be a marathon,” said FC Bayern’s former Bundesliga coach. “And why not go through this marathon and be there until the end and maybe pull off the huge surprise of becoming world champion?” Klinsmann encouraged the DFB selection.
Klinsmann himself won the World Cup with Germany in 1990 and also took part in two finals as a coach. He looked after the German team at the home World Cup in 2006 and the USA in Brazil in 2014. That year, his former assistant Joachim Löw led the DFB team to World Cup triumph.
