The great career in the national team failed to materialize. Things are going well for Luca Waldschmidt at the club. And he also announced good news privately.
Shortly before Christmas, professional footballer Luca Waldschmidt shared private messages with his fans: The 1. FC Köln striker married his long-time partner Gianna. Waldschmidt published a photo on Instagram that captured the special moment.
In the picture, Luca Waldschmidt and his wife are standing in a stylish room with high windows and striped curtains. Both hold hands, arms stretched upwards, as if celebrating their journey through life together. Gianna is wearing an elegant white dress with a high slit, Waldschmidt is wearing a gray and white patterned jacket with dark trousers. Both are beaming.
The 29-year-old writes: “Mr. & Mrs. Waldschmidt”. In the comments you can discover numerous congratulations from the football world, including those from companions such as ex-Freiburg star Nils Petersen or DFB talent Saïd El Mala.
Waldschmidt has been under contract in Cologne since 2023 and managed to return to the Bundesliga with the Domstadt team last summer. The offensive player has scored three goals and prepared two more goals for the promoted team this season. He previously played in the Bundesliga for Eintracht Frankfurt, Hamburger SV, SC Freiburg and VfL Wolfsburg.
Between 2019 and 2020, Waldschmidt also played seven times for the German national team. He made his debut in October 2019 in a 2-2 draw against Argentina. In the friendly games against Turkey (3:3) and against the Czech Republic (1:0) a year later, he scored one goal each.
