A chic jacket, high heels or a T-shirt: what do you wear for Christmas? For that question you should contact Mitchel Muller from fashion store Van Tilburg in Nistelrode. He knows exactly which colors and fabrics to pull out for dinner with your in-laws.
To put it first: “Wear something that makes you feel comfortable,” says the assistant floor manager and personal shopper in the radio program KEIgoeiemorgen! from Omroep Brabant. But if you want to spend a little more time thinking about your outfit, the colors brown and burgundy red are not to be missed, according to Mitchel.
When we talk about an outfit to look good at the in-laws, he mentions specific fabrics and clothing items. Starting with men: “Then you should definitely think of velvet and woolen fabrics. Also think of sleek suits or a casual look with a blazer and a turtleneck.”
Shine and glitter for the ladies
Then the festive outfit for the ladies. The ‘shine and glitter’ should not be missing. “An elegant dress, a chic knitted sweater and cardigan. Nice with a sparkle and accessories.”
But a casual look is also great during the busy holidays. Mitchel recommends wearing dark jeans or trousers with a nice sweater and a nice shoe. “I’ll go for a bow tie or a tie,” he says.
There are also plenty of options for women in that regard. Then Mitchel mentions trousers again, but a skirt is also suitable. To go completely casual, a knitted dress with a nice shine, for example, is also an option. He admits that it is easier for women to put on a casual outfit. “You can add nice jewelry, a nice bag or a good heel.”
Then the inevitable question: what are Mitchel’s real mistakes? “A sweatsuit,” he says firmly. “Unless it’s a sweatsuit with some glitter.”
