An Iranian-born vertical farmer Ali Amirlatif i.e. “Mansikka-Alin” Evergreen Farm oy files for bankruptcy. The company is known for the indoor cultivation system it developed, which allowed strawberries and vegetables to be grown all year round in the industrial hall.

The company owes more than 760,000 euros to the State Treasury, which is the largest creditor. The decision to start bankruptcy proceedings was registered on 18 December 2025.

Iltalehti reported in 2018 that Amirlatif’s strawberries grow in the company’s pilot plant in pots in a nutrient solution and under LED lights. Amirlatifi had received international attention after presenting his aquaculture method in Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates and Utrecht in the Netherlands.

Amirlatifi said For the morning paperthat the decision to declare the company bankrupt was made by the owners. The long-term business challenges and the international market situation influenced the decision. According to Amirlatif, a significant challenge for business was also the slowdown in international climate cooperation.
