The police received several reports yesterday of elderly people who were contacted by telephone by fake officers. These are people who pretend to be agents, but have completely different intentions.
“These elderly people are called and often asked personal questions, such as where they keep their valuable jewelry or how their home is secured. Sometimes it is suggested that they come by to pick up something, give something or to help the elderly,” says Haarlemmermeer Police Basic Team about the working method. on Facebook.

“Fortunately, almost all reports were made by people who already realized it during the telephone conversation: this is not correct,” the police say. A resident from Hoofddorp thought he was dealing with real police officers. “Unfortunately, jewelry, money and debit cards were taken from this person.”
The police emphasize that they will never ask for money, debit cards or valuables. They want to use this moment to call for extra attention to each other. “No one should feel unsafe in their own home, especially our elderly.”
