With a goal in overtime, national ice hockey player Moritz Seider led the Detroit Red Wings to their next victory in the fight for the playoffs in the NHL.
Almost 23 hours after the 5-2 win at the Washington Capitals, the 2023 runner-up scored the decisive goal to make it 3-2 in the fifth minute of overtime in the revenge match in their own stadium. Detroit thus further extended its lead in the Atlantic Division.
In a retro look for the club’s 100th anniversary, the Red Wings fell behind in the weak first third thanks to a goal from Ethen Frank (15th), in the middle period Lucas Raymond (29th) and John Leonard (34th) turned the game in favor of the hosts. But Frank forced extra time with his second goal of the day (51st).
