MONSIEUR AZNAVOUR
Type: biographical ✦✦
Direction: Mehdi Idir and Grand Corps Malade. With Tahar Rahim, Bastien Bouillon, Marie-Julie Baup
As did a son of Armenian refugees (the film opens with real images of the aftermath of the genocide) to become a symbol of France? This hyper-classic biopic which tells the story of the chansonnier from the cradle to the grave tries to give the answer.
There are few gray areas, if we exclude the desire for success: Aznavour (Rahim, suffering from performance anxiety) is a persevering worker, a manager skilled in negotiationnecessarily selfish and, although raised in a bohemian family, he seduces Pierre Roche and Édith Piaf who open the doors of the high world to him.
Tahar Rahim in the film “Monsieur Aznavour”.
An actors’ film. There’s a lot of music and a portrait of an era.
