The accident happened at a quarter past ten in the evening in a bend along Westouterstraat, not far from Poperingestraat. The car skidded in the bend, causing it to leave the roadway and come to a stop between two farm buildings, against a fence.
The five young people were able to get out of the car themselves. The fire brigade from the Westhoek zone arrived on site, as did the MUG team from the Jan Yperman Hospital. The five were taken to hospital. The car had to be towed. The road was closed to all traffic for a while.
