According to an NS spokesperson, Intercity trains run up to and including Amsterdam, local trains run as far as Zaandam and then turn around again.
The NS orders buses that can be used as substitute transport.
A spokesperson for ProRail explains that the power outage concerns a signal and switch failure in a large group. “This means that signals and switches are not working at Hoorn station. The contractor is on site very quickly, he will investigate what the cause is and get to work as quickly as possible to resolve the malfunction.”
Police deployment
The NS spokesperson said that police have been deployed at a number of level crossings to direct traffic.
The end time of the outage is not yet completely clear. “That remains a prognosis, the exact time is not clear,” said the NS spokesperson.
ProRail also has good news: “No trains were stranded: all trains either went to Hoorn station or could continue to other destinations.”
