As of January 1, 2026, Peter Bos will temporarily start as a board member at the Central Agency for the Reception of Asylum Seekers (COA). It was previously announced that Joeri Kapteijns will start as acting chairman at the same time. The changes in the COA board are the result of the departure of Milo Schoenmaker.

Peter Bos is no stranger to COA: he was also a temporary board member in 2022 and 2023.

Emine Özyenici, Deputy Secretary General of the Ministries of JenV and AenM: ‘Peter Bos is a very experienced director and also an expert in the field of crisis management. This makes him of great added value to COA.’

Experienced director-manager

Peter Bos has a lot of experience as a director-manager and is a public administration expert with a strategic focus. He knows the domain of both security regions and defense very well and his knowledge and expertise include crisis management. He also knows his way around The Hague and has often conducted interdepartmental crisis consultations.

Joeri Kapteijns: ‘My colleague Anita Bastiaans and I are very happy with the arrival of Peter Bos as a third board member. We know Peter as a very committed and experienced director. COA faces a major social challenge. His expertise and experience are very useful in these challenging times. We look forward to the collaboration.’

With the arrival of Peter Bos, the tasks and responsibilities within the COA board redistributed. The recruitment procedure for a new chairman of the COA board will start in mid-January 2026.
