Devin Booker makes it no secret that he would like to steer Stephen Curry to Nike. The 37-year-old is a free agent after parting ways with Under Armor Sneaker, D-Book wasted no time and used the game between the Phoenix Suns and Golden State Warriors to promote the brand.
Curry wore the Nike Book 1, Booker’s signature shoe, in the narrow 98:99 defeat. After the game, he spoke openly about the fact that he was closely following the Warriors superstar’s situation. “He’s in sneaker free agency right now, so I know he’s making his rounds and has a certain motto in every city,” the Suns star said.
Booker also revealed that Curry himself has already been in touch with him: “The day after we left Under Armour, he asked for a few pairs and of course I sent him all the hot models. So I was happy to see him in them tonight.”
This also had personal meaning for the four-time All-Star. “It’s really hard to put into words. When I think back to the Olympics and being able to be on the field with him – and not just on the field, but getting to know each other off the field as well,” said Booker, who has “admired Curry his whole life.”
He concluded by emphasizing why Curry would be a stroke of luck for any brand: “Whoever gets him, we know he’s a global icon with fans all over the world, and I saw that myself this summer. We know how popular Steph is and always has been.”
