Conversion of the St. Eligius Church in Ettelgem into a village hall – 528,000 euros
The largest investment takes place in Ettelgem, near Oudenburg. On the one hand, a viewpoint is created in the church tower of St. Eligius Church. In addition, part of the church space will be transformed into a multifunctional village hall.
Flemish Minister of the Interior Hilde Crevits: “For me it is especially important that the church building is treated with respect. On the one hand, the viewpoint will contribute to the tourist and recreational offer in the city, a good way to let more people discover the cultural, liturgical and historical value of the church. On the other hand, the village hall, as a true meeting place, is a respectful addition to the church building with an important social and cultural added value for the neighborhood.”
Renovation works at Sint-Bavokerk in Staden – 170,000 euros
The municipality of Staden can count on a subsidy of 170,000 euros from Flanders for renovation work on the church and the secondary use of part of the church. The church will also have a social function through the housing of a social house and a meeting room for residents.
Renovation work on meeting center in church in Zwevegem – 28,500 euros
A few years ago, the former St. Joseph’s Labor Church was repurposed as a meeting center. The building was in need of renovation. The project can count on around 28,500 euros in support from Flanders.
Renewal of the heating system in the Sint-Amandus Church in Blankenberge – 9,000 euros
Finally, in Uitkerke, the church’s heating system is being tackled. In addition to mass celebrations, cultural events such as concerts, lectures or exhibitions are regularly organized.
