The team from Rotterdam managed to take the lead in the King Willem II Stadium in the 21st minute. The team from Tilburg, which had a hard time from the start, had to concede two goals during the first half.
After halftime it seemed as if the Tilburg team had changed course. This ultimately led to a goal by Armin Culum in the 49th minute.
Willem II did not hold out for long, as Sparta scored 1-3 less than ten minutes later. The Rotterdam team did not stop there, because the ball also went into the net twice in the final phase of the match.
Willem II eventually lost the cup match 1-5. This means that the Tilburg team has been eliminated from the KNVB Cup.
