Meg Ryan says goodbye to the late Rob Reiner. On Wednesday, the actress, who starred in “Harry and Sally” under Reiner’s direction, shared: shared a loving tribute to Rob and his wife Michele in an Instagram post.
Meg Ryan’s emotional farewell
“Oh how we will miss this man,” she wrote. “Thank you, Rob and Michele, for your belief in true love, in fairy tales and in laughter. Thank you for your belief in the best in people and for your deep love for our country.”
The post featured a photo of Reiner and Meg Ryan that was apparently taken during filming of Harry and Sally. The two then waltz with big smiles on their faces.
“I have to believe that their story doesn’t end in this unfathomable tragedy, that something good can come from it, that awareness can be raised,” Ryan wrote. “I don’t know, but I suspect they would have wanted it to be hopeful and humane, that it would lead us all to greater mutual understanding and some peace.”
Hope despite tragedy
Rob and Michele Reiner were found dead in their Los Angeles home on Sunday afternoon, December 14th. Her son Nick was arrested that same evening and has since been charged with first-degree murder.
Last year, Rob Reiner told CNN that meeting his wife Michele influenced the ending of Harry and Sally.
How Michele Reiner changed the ending of the film
“It was supposed to end like this, with the two of them meeting again after years, talking to each other and then breaking up,” he said at the time. “Because I had been married for ten years, then single for ten years, and I couldn’t imagine ever being with anyone again… that’s where Harry and Sally came from.”
But everything changed when he met Michele. “I met her during filming and changed the ending,” he said.
