The horse may have been in the water for hours, perhaps all night. “I don’t know exactly how long he was in there. He was quite weak when we saw him.”
It’s going well
Darson has been checked by a vet and he seems to be doing well. “Last night he stood among the cows at a stable nearby, which warmed him up well. Today he was allowed to stay on the heath with us again, fortunately.”
It is not clear how the horse fell through the fence. “Maybe he was rubbing his butt against it, we don’t know.”
Brush thoroughly
The video above shows what the horse normally looks like. “He is spotted black and white, but his white fur is still covered in mud. That will require some serious cleaning in the near future,” says Westland.
