Economy Minister Giorgetti and Coni president Buonfiglio spoke about investments and the future. The minister: “Financing for the sports world is not an insignificant cake”
“Financing for the sports world is not an insignificant cake, because the famous 32% due to sport over the years has generated ever greater resources”, underlined Giancarlo Giorgetti, Minister of Economy, during the presentation of the CONI operational plan. “That 2018 reform generated revenue well over 32%, with ever-increasing resources to be distributed to the sports system.” The minister underlined the social and economic impact of CONI “as a regulatory body that refers to the rules, a non-trivial aspect in the formation of citizenship”.

The president of CONI, Luciano Buonfiglio explained: “The operational plan is based on four guidelines: the first is investments in existing Olympic preparation centers or in the creation of new ones; then the training of technicians and managers, sustainability and political values”. Coni is projected towards new objectives and prestigious results. “The implementation of this plan, which provides for constant reporting, is a personal commitment and that of the Committee – Buonfiglio pointed out -. The successes of Paris are not a point of arrival, but rather have stimulated us to look to Los Angeles with the responsibility of delivering to the new generations a more inclusive and competitive sports system, capable of being a reference in Italy, in Europe and in the world. Guaranteeing resources to CONI means allowing Italy’s participation in the Games and therefore structurally ensuring support for sports bodies. We are working towards a Coni more attentive, present, available to the Government with all our skills for ever better planning. We are demonstrating a sense of responsibility towards those we represent, around 16 million members and 112 thousand associations”.
