Moon

Moon it is the oldest restaurant in Bolzano, built around 1320 and its history can be felt and experienced. The current “soft” and elegant atmosphere is reminiscent of the great restaurants of the 60s and 70s: beautiful tablecloths and cutlery, well-spaced tables, splendid decorations on the ceiling.
The cuisine is simple but elegant: handmade pasta, fresh fish, meats from regional butchers, seasonal vegetables. The cuisine is managed by chef Mathieu Domegla who, after 17 years at the Hotel Turm, brought his “wisdom” here. The scallop carpaccio is notable, but also the Roman chicory, the orecchiette with turnip greens and the ossobuco or the artichokes au gratin with goat’s cheese.
€60-70 excluding drinks.

Half

Meta, in the heart of the city, in the lively Piazza Walther, center of the Christmas market, there is this beautiful and original restaurant. Defining it as a “restaurant” is limiting; meanwhile it is located in the historic Palais Campofranco and then there is a sky bar, small, intimate and elegant and a large terrace for the summer. The all-glass restaurant overlooking the square, the Duomo and the mountains offers contemporary cuisine with an international touch. Among the dishes: an excellent and unusual parmigiana; calamarata with lobster and artichokes; cod with cauliflower cream. The cuisine is excellent but the atmosphere is even better. Around €100

Mochi

On the beautiful terrace of the Hotel Falkensteiner, a stone’s throw from the central Piazza Walther, there is this pleasant and unusual restaurant for Bolzano, which offers Japanese-inspired cuisine. The view you can enjoy would make any dish and any cuisine excellent but, moreover, at Mochi you eat really well. You can start with shrimp gyoza, or grilled cauliflower; and continue with a sashimi: tuna, with burrata stracciatella, or a beef carpaccio. Excellent sushi rolls and grilled dishes: prawns, salmon, duck breast. Over €60 drinks not included.

GrowEat

GrowEat is an unusual and very interesting place, in the new and lively Walther Park central market there is this fast food restaurant, but calling it that is extremely limiting. Grow Eat is a true “revolution”, a salad bar that wants to rewrite the concept of fast food by putting salads, cereals, vegetables and fresh ingredients at the center without sacrificing taste. The goal is to offer the customer an ever-evolving experience, made up of discoveries and new flavor combinations. On the menu: fresh salads, cereal dishes, freshly prepared wraps, vegetable soups and purees, fresh fruit extracts. Around €30 for so much goodness and freshness.
