On December 5th, Fabio Moreno Fell made his debut for the professionals of 1. FSV Mainz 05 at the age of 25, and the center forward has now extended his contract early. The Bundesliga club did not provide any information about the new term; Moreno Fell was previously tied until 2027. The Spaniard came to Mainz from TSV Gau-Odernheim in the summer as top scorer with 50 goals in the sixth-class Verbandsliga Südwest and worked his way up from the second team to the professionals, for which he has appeared twice so far.

“Football sometimes writes special stories. It’s extraordinary when you watch a player in the association league in Gau-Odernheim in the spring and then see him playing in the Bundesliga at the end of the year. This is above all the result of hard work and a very good ability to adapt. Fabio has continuously shown his qualities since the start of the season and, as a down-to-earth guy, is completely focused on his task. That’s why we approached him some time ago and talked about an early extension of his contract. We are very pleased that Fabio will continue to do so to see him in the 05 jersey and to be able to accompany his development,” said technical director Meikel Schönweitz.

Moreno Fell added: “It was a very good decision to take the step to Mainz 05 in the summer. I can develop further here under optimal conditions and I am very grateful for the trust and experience that I was able to gain with the professionals. This enabled me to fulfill a dream. Now it is up to me to stay on this path and continue to work hard on myself.”
